How to change your Desktop Resolution in Windows Vista/7

This guide will show you how to change your screens resolution in Windows Vista/7. By doing this you can make text and icons appear bigger or smaller.

We start by right clicking on an empty space on your desktop and click on properties. It is highlighted in blue.

In this new window you will click on the pull down menu next to the word resolution like shown below. Here you will select the resolution for your screen. 1024x768 is the usual default for screens that are 17 inches. The smaller the resolution you pick the bigger the items will appear.

When you select the resolution of your choice then click apply. This will allow you to try the new resolution. If you like the change click "keep changes" if not click revert. If you get a black screen don't panic it means your screen does not handle the resolution you selected. It will automatically revert back in 15 seconds if you don't click on anything.
